WELCOME

The Beyond Prohibition Coalition are Canadians concerned about the unnecessary health related harms that drug users and communities experience as a result of the criminalization of currently illegal substances.

Join the Beyond Prohibition Coalition and add your voice to those calling for a national public discussion that moves toward the development and implementation of a system of regulation and control of currently illegal substances within a framework of public health and human rights.

This direction in drug policy reform is clearly the most sensible way to achieve the goals of personal and social health, community safety and public justice.

Workshop Series:
What Does Beyond Prohibition Look Like?

BPC will be holding a series of workshops to discuss what the "beyond" of "Beyond Prohibition" might look like. We believe that it is important for people who care about drug policy reform and who want to see a change from prohibition to regulation to work together in formulating what regulation might entail.

While there are groups locally and internationally developing regulatory drug strategies, we want to host occasions in which we might engage in such discussions ourselves, to deepen our understanding of the issues involved and learn together what the alternative of regulatory control would mean.

These workshops will be held on the third Tuesday of June, July and September (June 19th, July 17th, September 18th) from 6:00 - 9:00 pm, at the Strathcona Community Centre, 601 Keefer Street.

Our first workshop on June 19th will begin with a presentation on some of the dimensions of regulation by Mark Haden. These workshops will help provide us with a common language and framework for considering the specifics of a regulatory strategy. Of course, there will be lots of time for discussion, so bring your ideas, suggestions and questions.

Please RSVP to Dave Diewert by emailing ddiewertt@shaw.ca if you plan to attend so we can determine the size of the group. We look forward to an exciting time of discussion and learning together.
