According to Kabbalah, the human soul is divided into three elements such as the Nefesh, Ruach, and Neshamah. Each of these elements represents a part of human behaviour in accordance to his existence.

These three are differentiated in different ways. If it has to be categorized according to its origin, Nefesh is obtained right after you are born therefore all man has Nefesh from the start they have existed in this world. Ruach, on the other hand, is obtained within lifetime or stay in this world. This also goes similar to Neshamah.

When it comes to requirements prior to achieving such element, Nefesh is readily acquired which means, there is nothing you need to do in order to get it. So long as you are born in this world then you will have Nefesh. On the other hand, both Ruach and Neshamah can only be achieved if you do good deeds and actions in your entire stay in the world. It is for this reason that the two elements of soul are so much difficult to get for any ordinary Kabbalah believers.

This element plays a key role in the capability of man to make judgement in accordance to his descriptions of good and evil. It simply works as the conscience of man that is why among these three, Ruach should be the one to be strengthened and reinforce. Finally, Neshamah is called the superior sou. The reason for being given such name is due to the fact that it controls the capacity of man to understand and interpret the principle governing the existence of his Creator and the supremacy He withholds.
